What Can Be Repaired

Repairable, Or Not?

There are clear safety rules on what can and can't be repaired. We follow them — your safety isn't worth a shortcut.

Punctures in the tread
A nail or screw in the central tread area is almost always safely repairable to British Standard. This is the vast majority of punctures.
Sidewall damage — no
A puncture or cut in the sidewall can't be safely repaired. The sidewall flexes constantly and a repair there would fail. It needs a new tyre.
Large holes — no
Anything bigger than about 6mm, or several close together, is outside the safe repair limit. We'll explain why and quote a replacement.
Driven flat — inspect first
If you've driven any distance on a flat, the inside may be damaged. We inspect internally before deciding it's safe to repair.
A proper repair, while you wait
A safe, permanent British Standard puncture repair — the tyre off the rim, inspected inside, patched properly and rebalanced. Far cheaper than a new tyre when the damage is repairable, and safer than any plug or sealant.
We follow the safety rules strictly. If a puncture can't be safely repaired, we'll tell you honestly and quote fairly for a new tyre.
